Teresa is the Dean for Global Engagement in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Queen Mary University of London. She is also Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Material Sciences at same University. She obtained her bachelors and master’s degrees from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) in Mexico and her doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from UMIST. In addition, she was a Professor of Biomaterials and the Head of the Bioengineering Research Group in the University of Manchester. Professor Alonso Rasgado is a recipient of the Ohtli Award, the highest recognition that a Mexican living overseas can receive from the Mexican government, which was bestowed on her at a ceremony held at the Mexican Embassy in the UK on May 2016.
